Evidence
During the last decade, ERGO and its partners have gathered loads of experience on how to empower and strengthen grassroots Roma communities in South-Eastern Europe. We want to share these experiences with you. We call our experiences evidence. Others might prefer to call them case studies: that`s also fine with us.
ERGO is convinced that empowerment of Roma is an important key to their equal participation in society. Years of denial and discrimination have placed Roma in a position of dependency. Through stimulating self-organisation, existing capacity is developed and Roma increase their negotiating power to influence policies and politics and to advocate for equal participation as respected citizens in society. ERGO and its members aim to contribute to the creation of a Roma movement as a common voice to authorities and institutions on local, national and international level.
The leading question in ERGO’s work is: How do our activities contribute to the mobilisation and self-organisation of Roma and their participation in a wider Roma movement? In this section, you will find evidence showing that the methods that ERGO are working with, function in countries such as Bulgaria and Albania. We hope that our experiences are useful for you too!
