Balkan: monitoring Roma policies

In December 2009, about 30 representatives from Roma grassroots organisation from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey and Albania met in Sofia, to discuss (the lack of) national Roma policy implementation. The conclusion: national policies for Roma, if existing at all, are hardly implemented. There is still an enormous amount of work to do.

Quick scan

The meeting was organised by the Bulgarian Roma Network GORD (Civic Unity for Roma movement), with the goal to stimulate an exchange of experience between the network representatives from the different countries, about national policies for Roma and their implementation at the local level      

Representatives from the Bulgarian GORD network started the meeting with a presention of a a quick scan about the implementation of the national policies at local level.
