Partner organisations

Partners of Spolu distinguish themselves from other Roma NGOs through their commitment to stimulate the self-organisation of grassroots Roma groups and to unite them in networks and coalitions. Our partner organisations empower Roma grassroots leaders, community based organisations (CBOs) and networks to function as watchdogs towards local authorities and take responsibility for a process of change for achieving their citizens´ rights. Partner organisations continuously develop effective approaches and concepts that address the root causes of exclusion of Roma. Spolu’s partners train and coach local Roma community based organisations and regional networks of grassroots leaders, youth and women and assist them in monitoring and assessing the impact of Roma policies on the municipal level. Spolu’s partners help them to translate the outcomes to concrete recommendations, action plans and demands towards authorities.

Spolu’s partners address key issues in society concerning Roma and stir debate on active Roma citizenship and anti-gypsyism. In order to enhance a public debate, they regularly organise round tables, in which government officials, politicians and civil society representatives participate. They maintain a website on which they publish information on the position of the Roma minority in their country, the implementation of policies of the government and the effect of the stigma on Roma. In this way, they influence the national political agenda.
