Spolu works
Spolu is a Centre of Expertise which focuses on building human and institutional capacity among Roma grassroots in Europe. Spolu has a large network of Roma organisations and Roma leaders, but is also well connected to representatives of governments, institutions and civil society in Europe and The Netherlands.
Spolu works with Roma organisations in countries with a considerable number of Roma, which are mainly situated in Central and Eastern Europe: Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Spolu has long lasting partnership relations with Roma organisations in these countries, which are supported financially, with advice, through exchanges, trainings and workshops, and by including them in several international networks. Typically, employees and activists are strongly rooted in their communities and they are motivated to make a change for the Roma. Here you will find an overview of our partner organisations.
With some of our more advanced partners, like Integro Bulgaria, Roma Active Albania and the Policy Centre Romania, we have more close working relationships. They are playing a key role in capacitating and training less advanced partners.
Spolu is the driving force behind the European Roma Grassroots Organisations (ERGO) network, which lobbies for Roma grassroots interests and its recognition on the European level. Spolu constantly assessed opportunities to withdraw from a leading towards a supporting role and stimulated the ERGO members to take ownership. Through our cooperation with our strategic partner ERGO, Spolu works from a European perspective and wants to work with Roma organisations across Europe.
