Spolu is deeply involved in developing innovative and effective approaches for Roma grassroots empowerment and active citizenship. By analysing experiences with grassroots interventions, we identified mechanisms of change and merged them in new concepts and methods that address the root causes of the social exclusion and discrimination of Roma. .jpg)
According to Spolu, stigmatization of Roma and anti-Gypsyism are among the root causes of their social exclusion. Roma are often perceived as inactive citizens, incapable of contributing to the creation of a healthy social environment. Spolu strives to eliminate this stigma, which will allow Roma to hold a respected place in society, without renouncing their ethnicity. We believe that Roma and non-Roma should both assume their responsibilities and duties as active citizens and act forcefully and effectively against anti-Gypsyism.
